ANOTHER…. SHORT GUIDE TO RECYCLING

We get it.

Recycling is a pain.

So, what if we made it simple – for you?

Kwik Sweep, the number one waste management provider in London, is here to do just that. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this (simple) guide to (simple) recycling.

  • If it’s plastic and bottle-shaped …

Recycle it. Over 16 million plastic bottles are not recycled – every day, in Britain. We need to change this. Empty your bottles, crush them, and remove their lids before recycling them.

  • Yes, toothpaste.

We should recycle toothpaste boxes. Yet, most of the time, we do not. If we all recycled one toothpaste box each, we would be able to save enough energy to run a fridge in over 2,000 homes – for an entire year. Toothpaste tubes CANNOT be recycled. Keep that in mind.

  • Rinse. Rinse.

Never forget to rinse your recycling. Give pots, tubs, and trays a rapid rinse before recycling them.

  • Lids are important.

You may not know this but, when recycling glass, you should leave the lid on. Yes, even if it’s a metal lid. Or a cap, on a bottle.

  • Pizza boxes? NO.

Do not recycle pizza boxes. The grease that deposits on them can never be removed. It may cause defects in products made from recycled paper and cardboard.

  • The scrunch test.

So, say you are not sure whether a piece of paper can be recycled or not. Scrunch it up. If it does not spring back, you can recycle it. If it does, DO NOT recycle it. It’s as simple as that.

  • Squish. Squish.

Give your bottles and cans quick squish before throwing them away. This will save room in your recycling bin – and it will make your recycling more efficient to transport.
