POLLUTION-ABSORBING BENCH – NOW IN LONDON

People say that London drives innovation forward.

We believe they are right.

London is the latest city to adopt and implement a city bench with the capacity to absorb as much pollution as a small forest.

Yes, really.

Kwik Sweep, London’s favourite waste collection, removal, and disposal company, wants you to know about this, too.

Green City Solutions’ “City Tree” – using its vertical installation of moss – can absorb as much pollution as 275 trees in 1 percent of the space.

Now, this is good news! Especially since …

The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that 7 million premature deaths occur each year from air pollution. To the WHO, air pollution is one of the largest environmental health risks in the world.

So, the City Tree could really make a difference.

The bench is already quite common in some cities across Europe and Asia, including Berlin, Oslo, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Drammen, Hong Kong, and Newcastle.

How does the bench work? The answer is simple.

The bench can hold up to 1,682 pots of moss, planted in the vertical garden. The moss acts to filter out and trap particulate matter, absorb CO2 and remove dirt, soot, and a whole series of other pollutants.

And guess what … it’s not a hoax. It really works.

Each City Tree gets rid of 240 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere every year, and 250 grams of particulate matter per day.

There is a catch, however.

At a price tag of $27,000, these benches do not come cheap. Yet …

The benches can display advertising, which can help bring down the cost of these innovative devices. Besides, what’s more important, the future of our planet or the size of our wallet?

Kwik Sweep finds this idea great, as it fits our company’s eco-friendly ethos.

Our waste collection and removal services in London are “green,” and centred on recycling. So, should you have any issues with waste, you would benefit from getting in touch with us.

We are here to help.
