Spring Cleaning Tips To Blast Away The Cobwebs

Yes, it’s that time again – time to roll up your sleeves and spring clean your house, ready for the warmer months! There’s nothing better than throwing open your windows and doors after a cold winter, donning your rubber gloves and giving your house a much-needed once over.

Here at KwikSweep, we’ve helped hundreds of customers out with their annual spring cleans over the years with our house and rubbish clearance services. Here are some of the top tips we’ve picked up along the way.

Time for a good de-clutter
Spring is a great time to go through your home and get rid of any clutter that’s accumulated. A good rule of thumb for de-cluttering is to ask yourself whether you’ve thought about or used the items in the last year. If not, time to say goodbye! Get rid of any multiples you have (except for things like phone charging cables – it’s always useful to have lots of those!) and make sure all the items remaining have their own place. This will make your general, everyday tidying much easier, too.

Get into the loft
Attics or lofts are very convenient storage areas in many homes – but unfortunately, lots of people use them as a sort of catch-all space for all sorts of things there’s no need to hang onto. From old toys neglected from Christmases gone by, to tools or electronics that are hopelessly outdated, we’ve seen lofts packed to the brim with all sorts of items that will never be used again! Get into your loft and sort out what you’re keeping and what’s going. If you’re not too confident about getting into the attic, our loft clearance service can help you free up the space and take care of the lifting and carrying.

Clean your kitchen appliances
From the fridge-freezer to the washing machine, your white goods need some care and attention now and then. Washing machines can be cleaned by simply adding bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar to the hottest wash possible. The same ingredients can be used to clean a dishwasher – run a clean cycle with a small cup of white vinegar in the bottom of the empty dishwasher. When it’s done, sprinkle an equal-sized cup of baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher and leave it overnight. Run the cycle once more in the morning, and your dishwasher will be clean and fresh.
If, when you come to cleaning your white goods, you decide they’re past their best, we offer a white goods disposal service which aims to divert the waste away from landfill.

Don’t forget the garden!
You’re likely to spend plenty of time in the garden over the coming months, so now is the perfect time to get it cleared up. At KwikSweep, we offer a hassle-free garden clearance service that gets rid of everything, from old BBQs to disused garden sheds, as well as green waste and unwanted garden junk. Whether you have a spacious lawn or a small yard, we can help restore your outside space to a clutter-free state.
