CAN A WASTE-TO-ENERGY PARK POWER LONDON?

Waste-to-energy and recycling management firm, Cory Riverside Energy, has recently unveiled plans to build a low-carbon energy park in South East London. Is this the solution to the city’s waste problem?

It could be.

The energy park would, according to initial plans, comprise a range of green technologies, including waste energy recovery, anaerobic digestion, battery storage, and solar panels. These, on top, would complement an existing energy recovery facility.

We, at KwikSweep, find this a fantastic idea for the future of London. According to Cory, the Riverside Energy Park would allow it to convert more of London’s residual black bin waste to energy, and produce non-expensive heat for nearby homes and businesses.

With our expertise in waste removal, we at KwikSweep can recognise good ideas, and this is one.

Cory’s plan may even contribute to improving London’s infrastructure. In fact, the ash produced at the plant is set to be converted into construction material, so as to allow homes and roads in London to be built at lower prices.

According to the company, the Riverside Energy Park would “generate up to 96 megawatts (MW) of low carbon renewable electricity at peak times, which taken together with the permitted capacity of 72 MW from the existing Riverside ERF is the equivalent of powering c.300,000 homes across London.”

The KwikSweep team admires such an initiative, as we are also committed to making London a cleaner and more functional city. Both KwikSweep and Cory share the same mission: to eliminate waste from London’s streets.

In fact, as Nicholas Pollard, Chief Executive of Cory Riverside Energy, said, “London is facing a significant capacity gap in its ability to appropriately dispose of and treat all its waste.”

KwikSweep, just like Cory, is here to help London. And while on the one hand Cory will be converting black bin waste to energy, on the other one KwikSweep already collects and ensures the recycling of household and business waste.

We, at KwikSweep, put the environment first. It is nice to see the same ethos is being adopted by more companies in the capital.
